About Me

Charlotte Appleyard, Owner

Welcome to Appleyard Bakery’s corner of the internet!

I’d love to get to know you more, so allow me to introduce the brains behind the sprinkles (talking about the cakes here of course!)

I’m Charlotte and I have been addicted to baking cakes since I was in primary school, never missing an excuse to whip up something for friends or family.

It is this passion that then inspired me to qualify with a Culinary Diploma specialising in patisserie & confectionery (which are just posh words for all things sweet), leading me to an incredible opportunity to work as the Afternoon Tea Chef for the Connaught Hotel - a dream job as you can imagine for someone with a love for cakes!

After a few years away being ‘an adult’ though, I felt myself drawn back into the sprinkle covered world of baking. In this time away though I found my own style and perfected the recipes which I now proudly share with you through Appleyard Bakery.

I help busy people live out their baking dreams with bespoke orders & sweet treat deliveries at an affordable price. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want to throw some sprinkles on your next get together, I’m certain I have what you’re looking for.

Some days you’ll want to indulge & take a bite out something that ‘almost’ looks to good to eat, other days you might want to throw your hat in the ring & do a bit of BIY (bake it yourself) - but without the faff and fuss of measuring things or finding a good recipe.

Whatever your mood is today, I’m happy to explore it with you.

The full menu is available for you to peruse, however I do offer a bespoke service should you be looking for that extra special sweet treat.

  • Where are you based?
I work out of my stunning home bakery in Loughborough
  • Do you issue refunds?
We will take into considerations to offer refunds, however this will only apply if we have not started baking your cake yet. Our wedding cakes come with varying levels of refunds for up to 30 days prior to the event and our birthday cakes can be refunded up to 7 days prior to pick up.
  • Do you deliver?
Please note we are only able offer delivery on occasion. Please ensure you email us before placing your order if you require delivery so we can check our availability.
  • Can I pick up a cake within an hour?
All our cakes and treats are made to order only, so unfortunately we do not keep any extra cakes on hand as our fridges just arn't big enough at the moment. Our quickest turnaround is 3 days from placing your order to the cake or treats being available for pick up/ delivery or postage.
  • Why are only some items available for postage?
As much as we would love to be able to post layer cakes and cupcakes to you, these are fragile items and we would not want them to arrived completely smudged. Also we would need to increase the postage by a large amount due to the additional packaging and cooling equipment that would be required. Items that are currently available for postage are: cakesicles, meringues, granola and cookie kits.
  • How do cake consultations work?
If you would like a consultation for your wedding cake or for large events then please drop us an email. We will then have a chat about what you require and arrange a meeting for you to sample some treats to choose from for your big day. This gives you a chance to make your sweet dreams come true.
  • What are virtual classes?
Our virtual training classes are run via zoom or teams. This allows us to offer the training to more students from all other the UK and world wide. You will receive a full recipe and equipment list a few days prior to the class to ensure you have everything to hand to bake along. We also offer 1-2-1 classes which means you will have a private class tailored to you. You can choose what to learn and we can ensure that it is tailored to equipment you already have.
